What is with the fish?

This fish is an important sign to all Christians. It is symbolic of the Christian faith and was originally used as a secret mark during times of Roman persecution. The fish represents five words of significance to believers:

Jesus	Christ	God's	Son	Savior

The first letter in each of these words formed an acrostic of the Greek word for fish, ichthus.

Thus, whenever a Christian saw the sign of a fish, it was an instant reminder of who Jesus was, and of the need to tell others about him.
